Landslide kills owner of homestay facility in Son La

VOV.VN - A landslide occurred in the early hours of August 10 in the northern mountainous province of Son La, killing the owner of a homestay facility and injuring both her husband and child.

According to initial reports from the scene, the incident took place in Ta Xua commune of Son La province's Bac Yen district at around 4 a.m. on August 10 while the family was asleep.

Rocks and debris cascaded down, burying the tourist homestay in the process. The owner of the homestay was killed by the massive volume which crashed into the home, while her husband and child also suffered injuries.

In addition, the nearby homestay suffered damage.

Son La province has been witnessing prolonged spells of rain in recent days, killing 11 people, injuring six people, and submerging over 2,600 houses. Initial damage in July is estimated to be at over VND500 billion.
