International integration, innovation elevate VOV’s status globally

VOV.VN - After 79 years of development (September 7, 1945-September 7, 2024), the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) today is a leading national multimedia agency and integrating deeply internationally with its imprints and identity in the regional media landscape.

VOV has cooperated with 51 international radio broadcasting stations and 17 international radio and television organizations and NGOs.

An active partner

As a national radio station, VOV has developed relations with many national radio stations of countries that have a traditional friendly relationship with Vietnam, including Laos, Cambodia, China, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, Egypt, India, France, and Argentina.

VOV is also an active member of major international radio and television broadcasting organizations, such as the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), and the International Council of Francophone Radio and Television (CIRTEF).

VOV also participates in multilateral cooperation activities within the framework of ASEAN’s Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI).

Participating in cooperation agreements with international partners helps VOV integrate deeply into the international community, build a strong media network, and raise its position globally.

VOV's brand is most clearly affirmed at international radio and television competitions. Its programs won top awardsat ABU competitions in 2021, 2022, and 2023. On September 3, VOV won the AIBD award in the category “Green and Sustainable Technology”.

Former ABU Secretary General Javad Mottagi said VOV has been very active in ABU activities over the years. “We are very proud of VOV in term of partnership. Many ABU member stations, not just VOV, face challenges in their operation. The way forward is to work together, to partner with others. We appreciate VOV’s cooperation and sharing to turn challenges into opportunities.” 

VOV has joined exchange programs with foreign radio and television stations like Thai National Radio, Thai National News Agency, Thai National Television, Gyeonggi Provincial Radio of the Republic of Korea, Gwangju Foreign Language Network of the Republic of Korea, Argentina's Federal Broadcasting System, and Egypt National Radio.

Innovating to elevate stature

To integrate deeply into the international community, VOV has built a solid foundation based on the aspiration for a more professional journalism, along with stronger technological transformation.

"We always analyze factors that make our successes to see what can be done better. Our reporters and editors are not satisfied with achievements, but always strive to improve their profession and produce good journalistic works on radio, television, print, and online platforms,” VOV Vice President Pham Manh Hung said.

Toward these goals, VOV is strongly transforming digitally. VOV Vice President Vu Hai Quang said VOV is conducting a National Digital Radio Platform Project to set up an effective digital infrastructure.

“Our main task now is to build a digital infrastructure applicable to all activities within VOV. We focus on exploiting AI and generative AI to analyze our products and user behaviors to meet the specific needs of each target group,” said Mr. Quang.

Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan newspaper, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communicationand Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said that VOV is very active in digital transformation. “Its radio programs are now also available on the internet to reach people across Vietnam and overseas.”

Along with professional journalism skills and stronger technological transformation, VOV will continue to consolidate and promote international cooperation and exchanges with foreign radio and television organizations to contribute to the development of media and enhance its position.
