Hundreds of Vietnamese evacuated from Ukraine to Romania
VOV.VN - Approximately 800 Vietnamese citizens have been evacuated from Ukraine to Romania to get rid of the ongoing armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Romania in collaboration with the Vietnamese Association in Romania have received and provided initial assistance to the Vietnamese citizens.
The actual number may be even higher as many people have not contacted the Embassy or Vietnamese associations in Romania.
On March 2-3 Vietnamese Ambassador to Romania Dang Tran Phong and other leaders of the Vietnamese Association there went to Moldova where they worked with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country to receive and bring Vietnamese people from Moldova to Romania.
Upon arriving in Romania, these people will wait for repatriation flights to Hanoi (Vietnam) or move to another third country.
Vietnamese citizens are encouraged to leave Ukraine’s war zones for neighbouring countries such as the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Russia and Belarus to board repatriation flights.
According to schedule, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will bring home 283 Vietnamese citizens from Bucharest (Romania) on March 8. Budget airline Bamboo Airways will fly to Hanoi (Vietnam) from Warsaw (Poland) on March 10 with approximately 270 citizens on board.
These are the first among repatriation flights to bring home Vietnamese citizens stranded in war zones in Ukraine.
