Head-on car collision kills 6 in northern Vietnam
VOV.VN - A head-on collision between a sleeper bus and a semi-truck in northern Vietnam has resulted in six fatalities at the scene and four others injured, reported local police.

The tragic accident happened at km 235+100 on National Highway 6 at around 11:30 PM on February 21, said the police.
According to initial reports, the sleeper bus was traveling in the direction from the northern mountainous province of Son La to the capital city of Hanoi.
Upon reaching the accident site, the bus collided with a semi-truck towing a trailer, which was moving in the opposite direction.
As a result, six people died at the scene, including five from the sleeper bus and the truck driver. In addition, four others were injured and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Eyewitnesses said, the violent collision produced a loud noise that woke many people up in shock. At the scene, the heartbreaking cries of victims’ relatives added to the distress of onlookers.
“It was heartbreaking to see multiple bodies lying on the road. The passenger bus was severely deformed, and the inside was chaotic. One injured person had a broken leg and was given first aid right inside the bus,” a witness recounted.
Footage shows that the impact shattered the left rear windshield and frame of the bus, while the front of the semi-truck was crushed. Rescuers had to use metal bars to pry open the doors to help the victims.
Local residents and passing drivers assisted authorities in transporting the injured to the hospital for emergency treatment.
After hearing about the news, the leadership of Son La province and officials from the Traffic Safety Committee arrived at the scene to oversee rescue operations, visit the victims’ families, and investigate the cause of the accident.
Preliminary investigations show that the bus entered a curved section of the road, where the slippery surface caused its rear to swing into the oncoming semi-truck.
The traffic police determined that the passenger bus driver had no alcohol in his system and tested negative for drugs.
Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident and take necessary legal actions.
