Hanoi to invest US$100 million to develop mountainous region
A new investment plan has been ratified by the Hanoi City People's Committee with the aim of promoting the development of the “mountainous region” of the capital city.
After Ha Tay province merged with Hanoi in 2008, Hanoi has communes home to ethnic minority groups. These places are in extremely difficult state and they need a special policy.
There are 14 communes listed as mountainous areas, including 7 communes in Ba Vi District, three communes in Thach That District, two communes in Chuong My district, and two communes in Quoc Oai District.
These 14 communes have 154 villages, accounting for one tenth of Hanoi’s total area. In Ba Vi commune, in Ba Vi district, up to 48% of households are "poor households".
The VND2,300 billion (US$105 million) project will focus on upgrading infrastructure in these communes and assisting local people’s production.
