Hanoi records fourth death caused by dengue virus this year

VOV.VN - The capital has seen another death caused by dengue fever this year amid infections continuing to rise in the city, according to the figures released by the municipal Centre for Disease Control (CDC).

This marks the fourth death from dengue fever in Hanoi since the beginning of the year.

Data released by the Hanoi CDC indicated that the capital recorded a total of 2,766 new cases over the past week from October 13 to October 20, thereby bringing the total number of people infected this year to 23,314.

Major spots which recorded the highest number of infections were Hoang Mai district at 1,558 cases, Phu Xuyen district with 1,548 cases, Ha Dong district at 1,533 cases, and Thanh Tri district at 1,309 cases. This was followed by Dong Da district with 1,252 cases, Thanh Oai district at 1,230 cases, and Cau Giay district with 1,224 cases.

Furthermore, the past week has seen fresh outbreaks found in the districts of Dong Da, Bac Tu Liem, Dong Anh, Thuong Tin, Hoan Kiem, Ha Dong, Tay Ho, and Hai Ba Trung.

The centre noted that the number of dengue fever cases in the capital is continuing to increase, with fresh infections being recorded across all districts.

It also stressed that people should remain vigilant in terms of disease prevention as there is no vaccine for dengue fever and no specific treatment available.

If people do show any symptoms such as a fever, cough, or body aches, then they should go to medical facilities in order to be examined and diagnosed so that if they do contract dengue fever, the doctor will be able to monitor and treat them as swiftly as possible.
