Hai Duong is the only locality in the country that registered new infections on February 7 afternoon, said the committee.
In the morning, the Ministry of Health announced three cases in the province’s Cam Giang district, a new hotspot in the locality.
15 of the new patients have tested positive after coming into contact with COVID-19 cases (F1). They are closely linked to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak at Poyun Electronics Co. Ltd in Chi Linh city.
Authorities have imposed a social distancing order on Chi Linh City after the outbreak broke out more than a week ago.
Another F1 case tested positive in Hai Duong’s Kinh Mon district in the afternoon.
With an additional 19 cases announced on February 7, Hai Duong has so far recorded a total of 309 cases since the virus recurred in late January 2021.
The fresh coronavirus outbreak has spread to 12 cities and provinces across the country since late last month, with 418 cases confirmed.
