Firefighters rescue 300kg US tourist trapped in Da Nang bathroom

VOV.VN - Firefighters in Da Nang have rescued a US tourist weighing nearly 300kg after he became trapped inside a bathroom following a fall.

The incident occurred at around 8:33 a.m. on April 22 on An Thuong 3 Street in Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains), a famous tourist attraction in Da Nang, according to the city’s police command centre. The man was unable to move after falling in the confined space.

Rescue teams from the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police were immediately dispatched to the scene, coordinating with relevant units to carry out the operation.

The rescue proved challenging due to the narrow bathroom space and the victim’s body size. Responders used specialised equipment and partially dismantled parts of the structure to safely access and extract the man.

After nearly three hours of efforts, the victim was brought to safety at around 11:10 a.m. and handed over to medical personnel for care.

The tourist, identified as S.A.G., 65, is about 1.8 meters tall and weighs nearly 300kg. He has been traveling in Vietnam with his family since early April.
