Fire destroys Dong Nai footwear workshop

Witnesses say flames erupted from the workshop before quickly spreading to neighbouring houses. Local residents used water and small fire extinguishers in an attempt to control the fire but were unsuccessful in their efforts.

After the alarm was raised, the Dong Nai Fire Fighting and Prevention Police Department dispatched four fire trucks and dozens of firefighters to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

It took firefighters more than an hour to bring the fire under control. While the fire did not cause any fatalities, the footwear workshop was destroyed and three neighbouring houses suffered damage.

Earlier on March 17, a fire destroyed a big workshop in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Zone, resulting in massive financial losses. It took most of a whole day to stamp out the blaze.
