Explosion ruins paint factory in HCM City

VOV.VN - An explosion and fire destroyed a paint manufacturing plant in Ho Chi Minh City today (Apr. 12), authorities have said.

About a dozen employees of the plant, located in the district of Hoc Mon, escaped injury when an explosion in the packaging area of the plant about 10am set off a massive blaze.

It is miraculous that people are not seriously injured, said fire officials responding to the scene.

Officials said the cause of the explosion has not been determined but that an investigation is ongoing to determine what manufacturing processes were under way at the time of the blast.

We are assuming that vapours from the mixing process were somehow ignited, said fire officials.

It takes crews about one hour to extinguish the inferno. Sixty-five firemen from 13 fire crews respond to the blaze.
