Drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam busted
VOV.VN - The police of the central province of Nghe An that borders Laos said on January 18 that they have smashed a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam, arresting two suspects.
Surveillance had previously detected a group of people transporting drugs from Laos into Ky Son district of Nghe An before then transferring them to other northern provinces for distribution and consumption.
Tipped off by agents, the police launched an operation to break up the ring. They simultaneously inspected and discovered that the masterminds behind the ring were Xong Ba Tong, 30, and Xong Ba Da, 24, residing in Na Ngoi commune of Ky Son district.
On January 17, the two suspects were caught red-handed carrying a huge amount of drugs to sell to dealers in Hanoi.
At the scene, the police seized 11.1 kg of drugs, including 51,000 amphetamine pills, three kg of methamphetamine, and three kg of ketamine.
Further investigations into the case are now underway.
