Criminal case filed over scrap warehouse fire that kills five in Hung Yen
VOV.VN - The Investigation Police Agency of northern Hung Yen province has initiated a criminal case to investigate a devastating fire at a scrap warehouse in Van Lam district, which left 5 people dead, 2 injured, and 1 missing.

The prosecution was in line with Article 313 of the 2015 Criminal Code that covers violations in fire safety regulations.
The fire broke out at a scrap warehouse in Ao village (Minh Hai commune, Van Lam district), at around 13:45 p.m. on June 28. When the incident occurred, many were working in the warehouse.
Upon receiving the alert, the Hung Yen Provincial Police mobilised firefighting and rescue forces, in coordination with nearby district police units, the military, militia, medical staff, and local residents. More than 190 police officers from Hung Yen and Thai Binh provinces, along with approximately 300 personnel from other forces, were deployed to contain the fire.
At 4:00 PM, the blaze was largely brought under control. The incident resulted in 5 deaths, including four at the scene, 2 individuals suffering serious injuries currently being treated at the National Burns Institute, and 1 person still missing. Property damage is currently being assessed.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire, which erupted in a facility storing oil and other flammable materials, produced intense flames and thick smoke columns visible from afar.
A further investigation into the case is now underway.
