COVID-19: Vietnam records an imported case on Dec. 21
VOV.VN - A Vietnamese boat crew member returning from Ukraine has been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,414.
The 37-year-old man on board Navios Marco Polo arrived in Nha Trang city, south-central Vietnam, from Ukraine on Dec. 9.
He was placed in quarantine and tested for COVID-19 as soon as his boat was anchored at Nha Trang port, according to the Ministry of Health.
The second test on Dec. 21 showed the man had contracted the virus.
The patient was then transferred to the Khanh Hoa Hospital of Tropical Diseases for medical observation and treatment.
Earlier, two other persons working on the same boat were also confirmed to have carried the virus.
As of 18.00hrs Dec. 21 Vietnam has registered a total of 1,414 coronavirus cases, including 721 imported cases. All the imported cases have been quarantined upon their arrival, posing no risk to the community.
