COVID-19: Two more imported cases confirmed, total hits 1,413

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on December 20 confirmed a further two new cases of COVID-19 imported into Vietnam, with one coming from Russia and one from Ukraine, bringing the national tally to 1,413.

The two patients were put into isolation upon entry and are currently being under health observation for COVID-19 treatment after their test results came back positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

One day earlier, one imported case from Turkey was also diagnosed with the virus and three more COVID-19 patients were given the all clear, raising the total recoveries to 1,269.

Among patients still under treatment, ten have tested negative for the virus once, six twice and four thrice.

Of the country’s total infections, 693 are locally transmitted cases, and 720 are imported cases.

At present, the number of people coming into close contact with confirmed cases, or returning from pandemic-hit regions under health monitoring stands at close to 17,220, including 202 at hospitals nationwide, with the remainder based at other sites, at home, or at different accommodation facilities.

As the COVID-19 pandemic can return at any time, the Ministry of Health recommended people to wear face masks in crowded places, wash hands with soap or hand sanitiser regularly, avoid large gatherings, keep distance from each other and make health declarations.
