COVID-19: Vietnam records 91 new cases, mostly in HCM City

VOV.VN - Vietnam has logged an additional 91 coronavirus cases in nine localities nationwide during the past 12 hours, including 57 locally acquired cases in Ho Chi Minh City alone, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Most of the new cases were documented in quarantine and lockdown areas, thus posing no risk of the community, the MoH said in its 06.00am COVID-19 update on June 25.

Of the total, 79 were locally transmitted and detected in HCM City (57), Binh Duong (10), Binh Thuan (5), Gia Lai (2), Quang Ninh (1), Bac Giang (1), Khanh Hoa (1), Long An (1), and Hai Phong (1).

Notably, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh had recorded virus infections after many days without new cases.

The same day, the MoH announced 12 imported case returning to Vietnam via international border gates in Tay Ninh that borders Cambodia.

The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic which started in late April has attacked 42 cities and provinces across the country, with more than 11,000 cases confirmed.

Overall, Vietnam has logged a total of 14,323 cases, both locally transmitted and imported infections, since the SARS – CoV - 2 virus emerged in January 2020.

Seventy-two COVID-19 deaths have been reported, including 37 cases during the latest outbreak.

As many as 5,759 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.
