Vietnam works closely with US, COVAX for early access to COVID-19 vaccines

VOV.VN - Vietnamese competent agencies are in the process of negotiating with their US counterparts as well as the COVAX (COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access) Facility in order to receive COVID-19 vaccines as swiftly as possible.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang made the statement in response to a reporter's question regarding vaccine rollout after the US announced a plan to share 16 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Asia and 14 million doses to countries and regions in need, including Vietnam.

According to the spokesperson, the nation has also received about 2.6 million doses through the COVAX mechanism. Amid the current complicated pandemic situation, Vietnam welcomes and hopes that countries and international organizations would uphold the spirit of solidarity and responsibility, while intensifying the sharing of information, technology, finance, and health care, especially the transfer of vaccine production technology in an effort to contain the pandemic soon towards bringing life back to normal.
