COVID-19: Vietnam records 79 more cases, 24-hour tally rises to 250
VOV.VN - Vietnam logged 91 more coronavirus infections, including 79 locally-transmitted cases, during the past six hours, raising the country’s daily tally of infections to 250.
Of the newly-detected infections locally, 58 cases were documented in Bac Giang, 11 in Ho Chi Minh City, and 10 in Bac Ninh, the Ministry of Health said in its 06.00pm COVID-19 update.
Most of the new cases were diagnosed during their stay in quarantine or lockdown areas, said the MoH.
Meanwhile, 12 people tested positive after returning to Vietnam from overseas. They were placed in quarantine as soon as they arrived, posing no risk to the community.
The new patients raised Vietnam’s 24-hour caseload to 250, including 231 locally transmitted cases.
Bac Giang alone recorded 145 cases, followed by Bac Ninh 44, HCM City 30, Hanoi 6, Lang Son 3, Long An 2 and Hai Duong 1.
Vietnam is battling the fourth COVID-19 wave, with the virus spreading to 38 cities and provinces nationwide.
Close to 5,000 cases, including 13 deaths, have been confirmed since the virus recurred in late April. Bac Giang is the worst-hit locality, registering nearly 2,700 cases.
