COVID-19: Two northern hotspots record 52 cases over 12 hours

VOV.VN - A total of 56 locally transmitted coronavirus cases have been logged in Vietnam during the past 12 hours, with Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces alone recording 52 cases.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) reported in its 06.00am COVID-19 update that 32 people tested positive in Bac Giang, while 20 people tested positive in Bac Ninh.

Most of the new cases were detected in the quarantine and lockdown areas, said the MoH.

Both provinces are Vietnam’s largest coronavirus hotspots, with Bac Giang alone recording more than 2,500 cases, making up more than half the country’s total number since the emergence of the virus in late April.

Elsewhere, three cases were reported in Lang Son and one in Hai Duong.

Earlier in its 06.00pm update on June 2 the MoH announced 128 more new cases in five localities, with Bac Giang alone documenting 74 cases.

Vietnam has registered 4,780 new cases, including 13 deaths, in 38 cities and provinces across the country since the SARS-CoV-2 virus recurred on April 27.

Besides Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City is another coronavirus hotspot, posting more than 200 cases. Most of the cases in HCM City were linked to the outbreak at the Revival Ekklesia Mission Vietnam, a Christian congregation in Go Vap district.
