COVID-19: Three new imported cases registered in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Three people returning from Japan and the UAE have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,180, the Ministry of Health announced October 31.

All the three new patients are Vietnamese citizens, said the Ministry of Health, adding they were quarantined as soon as they landed back from overseas, thus posing no virus risk to the community.

Two of the patients took flight VN5301 from Japan to Vietnam’s Da Nang Airport on October 29. They tested positive for the virus the following day and are now receiving treatment at Da Nang Lung Hospital.

The third patient, a 27-year-old woman, was said to have come into contact with a COVID-19 patient in the UAE before flying back to Vietnam’s Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa province on October 29.

She tested positive on October 30 and is being quarantined at the Khanh Hoa provincial General Hospital for medical observation and treatment.

As of 18.00hrs October 31, Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,180 COVID-19 cases, including 489 imported cases returning from epidemic hit countries. It has gone through 59 consecutive days without new locally transmitted cases.

About 1,063 out of 1,180 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospital. Of the remaining 82 patients under treatment, 17 cases have tested negative for the virus at least once.

The death toll caused by COVID-19 and related illnesses remains at 35, with 31 cases alone recorded in Da Nang – the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot.

Currently, more than 14,700 people are quarantined at hospitals, concentrated quarantine facilities and places of residence.
