COVID-19: Four new imported cases raise national count to 1,177
VOV.VN - An additional four fresh imported cases from France were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) by the Ministry of Health on October 29, elevating the nation’s total number to 1,177.
On October 21, the four new cases, all Vietnamese citizens, entered Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City on flight VN5010 and were put into isolation in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province immediately upon their arrival.
On October 27, they run a fever and then tested positive for nCoV one day later. At present, the patients are being treated at the Medical Center of Long Dien district based in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Earlier, seven positive COVID-19 cases were also found on the same flight.
The country has recorded a total of 1,177 active cases so far, including 691 community infections and 486 imported ones, with 551 being detected since July 25 following the second wave of coronavirus that broke out in the central city of Da Nang.
The total number of recoveries stands at 1,062, while the fatality count remains unchanged at 35.
Among the patients still receiving treatment, 15 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least one or several times.
There are more than 14,200 individuals who came into close contact with confirmed cases or come back from pandemic-hit regions are under quarantine for health monitoring.
The country has to date entered the 57th straight day without recording any single locally-transmitted case.
