COVID-19: Over 7,300 new cases recorded, cumulative tally at 200,715
VOV.VN - An additional 3,540 coronavirus cases have been detected in Vietnam during the past 12 hours, raising the country’s daily caseload to 7,334 and cumulative tally to 200,715, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
Of the newly detected cases, 3,539 were locally acquired and one was imported, the MoH said in its 06.00pm coronavirus update on August 7.
About 348 cases were documented in the community through random testing or test screening at healthcare facilities, while the rest were diagnosed in quarantine or lockdown areas.
Ho Chi Minh City, the largest coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam, took the lead in infection numbers, registering 2,094.
It was followed by Dong Nai 243, Long An 207, Ba Ria – Vung Tau 188, Can Tho 141, and Tay Ninh 134, all in the south.
In the central region, Khanh Hoa logged 167 new cases, Phu Yen 47, Ninh Thuan 22, Gia Lai 17 and Quang Binh 15.
Elsewhere several northern provinces recorded 10 or fewer than 10 new cases, including Hanoi 10, Hai Duong 8, Thai Binh 4, Lao Cai 4, and Ninh Binh 2.
Overall, Vietnam has confirmed 7,334 new cases during the past 24 hours, with HCM City registering 3,930 cases, Binh Duong 882, Dong Nai 709 and Long An 367.
Data from the Ministry of Health (MoH) show as of 06.00 pm on August 7 Vietnam has documented 196,806 new locally transmitted cases following the resurgence of the virus in late April and 200,715 cases since the start of the first outbreak in January 2020.
As many as 66,637 patients have recovered from the diseases, including 4,305 cases announced on August 7.
