COVID-19 claims five more lives in Vietnam, fatalities rise to 130
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health confirmed on July 13 that five people have died of COVID-19 and underlying health conditions, thereby raising the country’s death toll since the start of the pandemic early last year to 130.
Three of the patients live in Ho Chi Minh City, the nation’s largest COVID-19 hotspot, while the remaining two patients live in Dong Nai and Bac Giang provinces. The victims were aged between 38 and 61.
The five patients suffered from underlying illnesses, including chronic renal failure, tuberculosis, hypertension, diabetes (type II), obesity, and cirrhosis.
Each of them had previously tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus and subsequently passed away after being admitted to hospital for treatment.
As of July 13 Vietnam has recorded 95 COVID-19 related deaths during the fresh coronavirus outbreak that started in late April.
Last year saw 35 patients die of COVID-19 and other underlying illnesses, mostly in Da Nang city during the second outbreak.
