COVID-19: 26 imported cases take Vietnam’s tally to 1,252

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) on November 11 announced a record of 26 additional coronavirus cases, all returning from overseas, bringing the country’s tally to 1,252.

All the new patients are Vietnamese citizens, with 25 returning from Romania and the remainder from the United States.

They were all transferred to concentrated quarantine facilities as soon as their planes landed at airports in Vietnam, thus posing no risk to the community, said the Ministry of Health in its 18.00hrs update.

They tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on November 10-11 and were transferred to Ho Chi Minh City-based Cu Chi field hospital and Da Nang Lung Hospital for medical observation and treatment.

Vietnam has gone through 70 consecutive days without new locally transmitted coronavirus cases, but it has sporadically detected cases returning from epidemic hit countries.

Most of the new infections are Vietnamese citizens who were left stranded overseas due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some are foreign experts and business executives who were allowed to enter Vietnam to work for incomplete projects.

As of 18.00hrs on November 11, Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,252 coronavirus cases, including 1,087 recoveries and 35 deaths.

All the remaining cases are in stable health condition, with 42 cases having tested negative for the virus.
