COVID-19: 184 more cases detected over 24 hours, no waning signs in hotspots
VOV.VN - Vietnam has recorded a total of 184 more locally transmitted coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, with the country’s two largest COVID-19 hotspots, Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, displaying no signs of abating.
In its 06.00pm COVID-19 update on May 24, the Ministry of Health (MoH) announced 95 more local community infections, including 44 in Bac Giang and 31 in Bac Ninh.
Bac Giang, the largest coronavirus hotspot, has recorded an additional 105 cases during the past 24 hours, raising its infection tally to more than 1,000. Most of the cases have been diagnosed during their quarantine time closely linked to outbreaks at industrial parks.
Meanwhile, Hanoi capital has reported 21 more cases, including 13 in the afternoon alone. Notably, more than 10 people tested positive closely tied to the outbreak at T&T Company and the source of infection remains unknown.
Elsewhere, 11 more cases have been recorded in Lang Son, five in Hai Duong, two in Dien Bien, one in Da Nang and one in Ho Chi Minh City.
The same day, the MoH announced that as many as 73 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.
Among active cases, 180 have tested negative for the virus at least once.
Also in its 06.00pm COVID-19 update, the MoH said a Chinese man, 45, has tested positive after entering Vietnam on April 24.
Vietnam has so far confirmed 2,348 COVID-19 cases in 30 cities and provinces across the country since the virus recurred in late April.
Nine patients have died of COVID-19 and underlying illnesses during the last four weeks, raising the country’s death tally to 44.
