VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) has confirmed an additional 33 locally transmitted coronavirus cases in Bac Giang, Hai Duong and Da Nang over the past six hours.

Bac Giang province, which is close to Hanoi capital, recorded 28 cases in quarantine and lockdown areas, said the MoH at its 12.00am COVID-19 update.

All the new cases were closely linked to the current COVID-19 outbreaks at Quang Chau, Van Trung and Dinh Tram industrial parks.

Elsewhere, four cases were detected in Hai Duong, another gateway to Hanoi capital, and one case in Da Nang.

Earlier in its 06.00am COVID-19 update, the MoH announced 56 cases, including 33 in Bac Giang hotspot.

Vietnam has recorded 2,253 COVID-19 cases since the virus recurred in late April. Eight patients have since died of COVID-19 and other underlying illnesses such as liver cirrhosis, sepsis, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

Currently, 20 COVID-19 patients are in critical health condition and many of them face a high risk of death. Experts say it is difficult to treat COVID-19 patients as they suffer from chronic diseases.
