COVID-19: 14 returnees infected with SARS-CoV-2

VOV.VN - Fourteen Vietnamese citizens returning from abroad have been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in its 18.00hrs update on April 9.

Nine of the patients boarded different flights from Canada, Japan and Angola to Vietnam, while the remaining five crossed international border gates in the south to enter Vietnam.

All the patients tested positive during their stay in concentrated quarantine facilities, thus posing no risk to the community, said the MoH.

Earlier in the morning, the MoH an imported case returning from Angola.

The new cases raised the national count to 2,683, of whom 2,429 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.

Among the active cases being given treatment at health facilities across the country, 81 have tested negative at least once.

The number of deaths caused by COVID-19 and related illnesses remains at 35.
