Chinese traveler found dead in southern Vietnam

VOV.VN - A Chinese traveler has been found dead in Phu Quy island district of Binh Thuan province, southern Vietnam, according to local authorities.

Jiang Xiquan entered Vietnam through Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on October 10 and registered to stay at the Chill Chill Hotel in Quy Hai Hamlet of Phu Quy District for sightseeing, said local authorities.

The Chinese national is scheduled to leave the area on December 12.

He was said to go swimming alone and bring a spear for spearfishing at Mo Thay Beach in Dong Hai Hamlet on November 9. By 3:30 p.m. the same day, locals found his body washed ashore.

Notably, Jiang had gone to the beach alone for swimming and spearfishing since his stay at the Chill Chill Hotel.

Upon receiving the news, the administration of Phu Quy district directed local police to collaborate with the Phu Quy Port Border Guard Station and relevant agencies to assist in bringing the victim’s body ashore and to carry out necessary legal procedures.

The victim’s body was transferred to the mortuary at Phu Quy District’s Medical Center for forensic examination.

The Phu Quy District Police were assigned to lead the investigation and verification efforts to determine the cause of Jiang’s death.
