Chinese nationals arrested for pepper spray carjacking in Thanh Hoa

VOV.VN - On June 12, police in the northern provinces of Thanh Hoa and Bac Giang coordinated to arrest four Chinese nationals accused of using pepper spray to carjack a ride-hailing vehicle.

According to initial reports, the incident took place at around 2:00 a.m. on June 12 as a local taxi driver from Hai Ninh ward, Nghi Son Town, was traveling on the North-South Expressway near the Dong Xuan interchange.

Upon reaching the highway exit, the driver noticed four strangers standing on the opposite side of the road signaling for a ride. He stopped to assist them. As he lowered the window to speak with the group, they suddenly sprayed him with pepper spray and attempted to seize the vehicle. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Thanh Hoa police quickly launched a manhunt. By 7:00 a.m., all four suspects had been apprehended while attempting to flee back to China.
