Bus crash in Lang Son leaves six casualties
VOV.VN - A collision between a sleeper coach and a 16-seat passenger van early on February 27 on National Highway 1 in northern Lang Son province left six people dead or injured, including one fatality at the scene.
A representative of the Tung Dien traffic police station in Lang Son said that local police were coordinating with relevant units to regulate traffic and investigate the cause of the crash, which occurred at around 5 a.m. at Km76 of National Highway 1, passing Dong Ngau village in Cai Kinh commune.
According to initial information, N.M.T., born in 1976 and residing in Nghia Dan district, Nghe An province, was driving a 44-seat sleeper coach from Hanoi toward Lang Son, carrying about nine passengers.
At the location, the coach collided with a 16-seat Ford driven in the opposite direction by N.T.D., born in 1984 and residing in Thuy Hung, Lang Son. The vehicle was carrying about six people at the time.
The impact killed a woman seated in the front passenger seat of the 16-seat vehicle at the scene. She was identified as the driver’s wife. Five others in the same vehicle were injured and taken to the Huu Lung medical centre for emergency treatment. Passengers on the 44-seat coach were not injured.
At the scene, the front of the 16-seat vehicle was severely deformed, with debris scattered across the road, while the sleeper coach was pushed off the roadway. Police cordoned off the area and diverted traffic shortly after the crash.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
