British warship HMS Richmond visits Ho Chi Minh City
VOV.VN - Anti-submarine frigate HMS Richmond of the British Royal Navy docked at Nha Rong Wharf, Ho Chi Minh City, on September 22, beginning a goodwill visit to the city.

Colonel Phan Anh Tuan, Deputy Commander of the 125th Brigade of Vietnam’s 2nd Naval Region, hosted a welcoming ceremony for around 185 officers, non-commissioned officers, and crew members on board the British warship that is equipped with advanced combat systems and a wide array of modern weapons.
According to the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of the Vietnam–UK Strategic Partnership, highlighting a commitment to enhancing cooperation, particularly in defence and security.
Colonel Richard Kemp, commanding officer of HMS Richmond, said the visit is not only an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the Vietnamese partners but also reaffirms the United Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to promoting peace, stability, and global security in the Indo-Pacific region.
During the visit, the crew will pay courtesy calls to the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the 2nd Naval Region Command, and Military Region 7 Command. They will also engage in professional exchanges and training to enhance cooperation between the two navies.
The visit is part of an eight-month deployment for HMS Richmond and its crew, scheduled to conclude at the end of this year. The voyage through the Indo-Pacific, including the East Sea, allows the vessel and crew to experience operational conditions firsthand, from complex geopolitical environments to high temperatures affecting sonar performance.
