Brazilian expert infected with COVID-19
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on Dec. 25 confirmed six more imported cases of COVID-19, including a Brazilian expert, taking the country’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,439.
The Brazilian citizen, 44, boarded flight QR8954 from Qatar and landed at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on Dec. 24. He was quarantined upon his arrival according to regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.
The foreign citizen tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Dec.25 and was immediately transferred to Hanoi-based Hospital of Tropical Diseases for medical observation and treatment.
The remaining five patients are Vietnamese nationals who returned to the homeland from England and Germany between Dec. 18-22. They tested positive on Dec. 24 and were taken to health facilities for treatment.
Also on Dec. 25, as many as 22 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,303.
As of 18.00hrs Dec. 25 Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,439 coronavirus patients, including 746 imported cases returning from COVID-hit countries.
According to the Ministry of Health, nearly 17,000 people who either had contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from epidemic hit countries are being monitored in concentrated quarantine facilities for any virus symptoms.
