COVID-19: 12 imported cases take infection tally to 1,433

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on December 24 reported the discovery of an additional 12 fresh imported COVID-19 cases, bringing the overall number of infections in the country to 1,433.

The new patients included 11 Vietnamese citizens returning home from the US, the UK, the Republic of Korea and Japan, and one South African woman.

Of the total, 693 are domestically-transmitted cases, including 553 infections since the pandemic broke out in the central city of Da Nang on July 25, and 740 imported cases which placed into quarantine immediately upon entry.

Among the positive cases currently undergoing treatment, 20 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least one.

There have been 1,281 coronavirus patients in total declared to be free from the novel coronavirus, and the number of COVID-19 fatalities stays at 35.

As many as 16,226 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are in quarantine for health observation across the nation, including 168 at hospitals, and the remainder at concentrated quarantine facilities or at their places of residence.
