Boiler explosion kills 6, injures 7 at Dong Nai wood processing factory
VOV.VN - Six people were killed and seven others were injured after a boiler exploded at a wood processing factory in Dong Nai, a province in southern Vietnam on May 1 morning.
The workplace incident happened at around 9 a.m. at Binh Minh wood processing factory in Thien Tan commune of Vinh Cuu district, said said Nguyen Van Tu, an official of the factory.
Between 30 and 40 workers were working at the site when the explosion took place, added Tu.
Many ambulances sounded their sirens from Bien Hoa city, the capital of Dong Nai province, to the site of the incident.
Six were found dead at the site, and many others were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.
Doctors at Dong Nai-based Thong Nhat General Hospital said that they received five male patients, including 1 in critical condition and 2 seriously injured.
The Emergency Department of Dong Nai General Hospital dispatched ambulances and doctors to assist in bringing the victims to the hospital.
The cause of the explosion currently remains unknown.
Boiler explosions are a serious concern at workplace, endangering the lives of workers, causing property damage, adversely affecting plant operations, and having negative impacts on the environment.
Normally, there are four causes – low water levels, overpressure, overheating and incorrect calculations.
