Big haul of medals for Vietnam at World Mathematics Invitational 2025
VOV.VN - All 36 Vietnamese students of various grades have won prizes at the 2025 World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) held in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 25 to 29.

The students earned two Legend Awards presented to who who have won gold or diamond medals for three successive years in WMI. They also pocketed 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 13 bronze medals, alongside 5 honorable mentions.
Among the standout achievers was Tran Lam Dao, a 6th-grade student from Nguyen Truong To Secondary School (Hanoi), who swept multiple prestigious titles, including a Champion Award and a Legend Award.
This year’s WMI attracted 807 participants from 23 countries and territories, including math powerhouses such as China, Hong Kong (China), and Bulgaria. The competition featured two segments—multiple choice and written problem-solving—and awarded medals based on percentile rankings within each grade level.
The 2025 WMI final exam was praised for its rigorous structure, creativity, and strong connection to real-world applications. The test challenged students not only on core mathematical knowledge but also on logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and practical application of math concepts.
The richness in content, diversity in format, and open-ended problem framing elevated WMI 2025 beyond a mere competition—it became a platform for nurturing global mathematical thinking. Under the theme “Mathematics Connects the World”, the competition inspired students worldwide to explore math as a bridge between logic, creativity, and real-life problem-solving.
