Aviation sector tightens control to prevent Ebola importation
VOV.VN - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has issued a guidance document requiring relevant agencies and units to strictly enforce epidemic prevention regulations, ensuring early detection and appropriate control measures for suspected cases entering via air routes.
Under the guidance, aviation sector agencies must closely monitor incoming passengers from epidemic-affected regions, promptly identifying suspected cases for quarantine and medical monitoring. Furthermore, agencies are tasked with reinforcing discipline in Ebola prevention, maintaining full readiness for epidemic response at airports, and actively cooperating with the Ministry of Health, other ministries, and relevant local bodies to screen and detect potential infections. Airport administrations are responsible for rolling out these instructions to all entities operating within aviation facilities.
This proactive stance comes in response to World Health Organization (WHO) warnings regarding the largest Ebola outbreak in the history of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which has recorded over 9,000 cases and more than 4,000 deaths.
The dangerous disease has also begun spreading to neighboring countries, with Kenya reporting three confirmed infections. WHO notes that Ebola is a severe and often fatal infectious disease transmitted through direct contact with blood, bodily fluids, and contaminated surfaces or materials.
