Another illegal entrant infected with COVID-19 in HCM City
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City on December 29 recorded another COVID-19 patient who is one of the six people illegally entering Vietnam from Myanmar.
The young man, living in HCM City’s District 9, tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the result was confirmed by the Municipal Health Department.
The group of six illegally crossed the Vietnam-Cambodia border to their homes on December 14.
Authorities have identified all six illegal entrants, four of whom were diagnosed with the virus. The Ministry of Health have confirmed two cases and it is awaiting confirmation from relevant agencies for the remaining two.
The first case, a 32-year-old man, tested positive on December 26 after he was persuaded by his mother to present himself to authorities in Vinh Long province, his hometown. He was dubbed patient #1,440.
The second case, a 23-year-old man of Ho Chi Minh City, was announced by the Ministry of Health on December 28.
The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on December 29 reported a woman who travelled with patient #1,440 was infected with the virus.
Authorities have moved to track down and quarantine those who has contact with these cases.
