All Vietnamese students win medals at APhO 2021
VOV.VN - All eight Vietnamese students who competed in the 2021 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) have finished the competition with medals, including two golds, according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET).
One of the gold medalists, Nguyen Manh Quan of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, recorded the highest number of points during the online contest. In addition, he was also awarded a certificate of merit from the APhO Chair, becoming the first Vietnamese student to earn the highest score during the competition.
Another gold medal went to Tran Quang Vinh, who also studies at Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
Both Vinh and Quan are 12th-grade students.
Alongside two golds, Vietnamese students also clinched one silver, three bronzes and two certificates of merit.
The APhO 2021 was hosted by Taiwan (China) and took place in an online format due to the complicated developments ò the COVID-19 pandemic. The event saw the participation of 181 contestants from 23 countries and territories worldwide.
This year the Vietnamese team competed at the Hanoi National University of Education from May 16 to May 24 under the supervision of two Taiwanese supervisors.
