All local students win prizes at International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese delegation won a total of two silver and three bronze medals at the 17th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA-17) which recently concluded on August 27 in Brazil.

According to Hanoi's Department of Education and Training, all of the local students are from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. It marks the eighth time that Vietnam has sent representatives to the competition and the first time that the entire Vietnamese delegation have been awarded prizes.

IOAA-17 got underway in Brazil from August 17 to August 27, featuring the participation of nearly 300 contestants from 53 countries and territories worldwide.

The annual competition was first held in Thailand back in November, 2007. Vietnamese students first begun to participate in the event in 2016.

In last year's edition, local students brought home two silver and two bronze medals.
