Action Plan to Develop Seven Career Fields Connected with the EEC
The Cabinet has approved an action plan on manpower production and development, with an emphasis on seven career fields connected with the growth of Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project.
The seven career fields are considered necessary and urgent for national development under the National Qualifications Framework, 2019-2022.
They include logistical infrastructure; logistics and supply chains; robotics and automated systems; information and communication technology; food and agriculture; petrochemicals, chemicals, energy, and renewable energy; and mold and die making.
The action plan is cited as a major mechanism for creating the prototypes of manpower production and development in accordance with the National Qualifications Framework. The objectives are to produce sufficient human resources of high quality in response to the labor market demand and to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness.
These prototypes will be used to produce and develop manpower in other career fields that are in also need, as well.
Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha stressed that human resource development must be carried out based on the market demand and the target of the S-curve industries, aimed at moving the country toward the "Thailand 4.0” platform.
Thailand intends to build a value-based economy under the Thailand 4.0 policy. The EEC is a flagship project to achieve the goals of this policy.
