2020 ASEAN Youth Career Mentorship Programme held online

The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) has recently held the 2020 ASEAN Youth Career Mentorship Programme in the form of a teleconference, where many questions regarding visa, labour market and employment were cleared up.

First launched in 2017, the annual event aims to help students from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) develop their careers in the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Young people from ASEAN countries who graduated from RoK universities and are working in the country, and experts shared experience and provided consultations in this regard.

According to AKC Secretary General Lee Hyuk, the number of ASEAN students in the RoK increased from 4.781 in 2010 to 64,200 last year, accounting for one third of foreign students in the country.

These students have played a significant role in promoting partnerships between RoK companies and their ASEAN counterparts, and expanding the operation of RoK firms in the ASEAN market, he stressed.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, there are more job opportunities for ASEAN youths in the East Asian nation, he said.
