A Japanese expert infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus in Vietnam

VOV.VN - A Japanese expert entering Vietnam has been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease, the Ministry of Health said on march 14 afternoon.

The man flew from Japan to Vietnam on March 10 and tested positive two days later during his stay in a quarantine facility in Ho Chi Minh City.

The patient was immediately transferred to HCM City’s Cu Chi field hospital for medical surveillance and treatment.

Elsewhere, no more locally transmitted cases have been detected across the country during the past 24 hours.

The epidemic has been brought under control nationwide, even in Hai Duong, the epicenter of the country’s latest coronavirus outbreak.

The northern locality has recorded just one or two cases during the previous days as opposed to dozens recorded a couple of weeks earlier.

Since the virus recurred in late January 2021, it has spread to 13 cities and provinces nationwide, with 901 positive cases confirmed, including 717 cases in Hai Duong alone.

Vietnam has been carrying out the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, using the AstraZeneca vaccine, since its launch on March 8. More than 10,000 people have been vaccinated in 12 cities and provinces, according to the Ministry of Health.
