63 earthquakes hit Vietnam in October, with 60 recorded in Kon Tum province
VOV.VN - As many as 63 earthquakes were reported nationwide in October, with the majority occurring in Kon Plong district in the Central Highland province of Kon Tum, the Institute of Geophysics under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology reported on November 1.
Data shows that 63 earthquakes in October measured between 2.5 to 4.1 on the Richter scale.
The frequency of earthquakes over the past month represented a significant increase, with 27 more quakes occurring compared to September.
Among them, 60 earthquakes hit Kon Plong district in the Central Highland province of Kon Tum. Others were reported in Nam Tra My district in the central province of Quang Nam.
The earthquakes were assessed to be small scale and not causing any risks of natural disasters, although local people should not be negligent.
Since the start of the year, the country has experienced 416 minor earthquakes nationwide, with more than 90% of them recorded in Kon Plong district.
