350kg bomb with intact fuse safely handled in flood-hit Dien Bien
VOV.VN - A 350kg bomb with an intact fuse, believed to be a war remnant, has been discovered in Muong Luan commune of northern Dien Bien province during flood clean-up efforts by soldiers and local residents.

The bomb, identified as an MK117 produced by the United States, was uncovered on August 4 while clearing debris from roads damaged by recent floods.
Following the discovery, authorities quickly installed warning signs and safety barriers around the site and deployed guards to monitor the area around the clock.
Upon receiving the report, Dien Bien’s military command mobilised an engineering unit and 20 soldiers to safely remove the bomb from the residential area.
The bomb was then transported to a designated explosive materials storage facility pending disposal.
The timely detection and disposal of the bomb helped to ensure people's safety, particularly as local communities are actively working to recover from the aftermath of severe flooding.
