23 people die in traffic accidents every day
VOV.VN - Vietnam has recorded 20,280 traffic accidents this year, leaving 8,279 dead and 5,587 injured, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
The number of accidents dropped by 7% when compared to last year’s figures, while the number of deaths and injuries fell by 3.1% and 9.6%, respectively.
In the 30 day period spanning from November 16 to December 15, the amount of traffic accidents reported nationwide stood at 1,563, resulting in 699 deaths, 401 injuries, and 873 minor injuries. There was a 7.8% decrease in the number of accidents over the same period last year and the fatality rate declined by 3.1%, while the injury rate increased by 85.6% and minor injuries fell by 8.6%.
According to the available statistics, there has been significant progress in traffic safety with the numbers of accidents, deaths, and minor injuries dropping this year.
