Organised by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) and the capital’s youth blood donation advocacy association, the festival will run for nine days, from February 8 to 16, at the NIHBT’s headquarters.
Many special features will be offered this year. Donors can register online to donate as a pair, while a matchmaking activity will be organised, offering participants a chance to connect meaningfully. Two people who donate together will receive a certificate and special gifts from the organisers.
On Valentine’s Day (February 14), the first 300 couples donating their blood will receive romantic gifts, celebrating the spirit of love and generosity.
During the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday (January 25 – February 2), the NIHBT recorded 2,019 blood and platelet donors, with the number of donors continuing to rise post-holiday.
The post-Tet period is a critical time for blood demand, as hospitals experience a surge in patients returning for treatment after the long break.
Blood donation in Vietnam is a deeply communal effort, drawing support from all walks of life. In 2024, over 7,400 awareness events were organised to engage more than 1.8 million people, underscoring the power of collective action.
