15 more fresh local cases of COVID-19 found in five localities
VOV.VN - The Health Ministry confirmed 15 additional new locally- transmitted cases on the morning of May 9, raising the national infection tally to 256 during the past 12 days.
Of the latest cases, six were recorded at the second facility of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh, Hanoi, five in Bac Giang province, two in Lang Son, and one each in Dak Lak and Ha Nam provinces.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam now rises to 3,245, including 1,826 domestic infections, and 1,419 imported ones.
A total of 2,602 coronavirus patients have fully recovered from the virus, and 64 cases receiving treatment have tested negative for the coronavirus at least one time or more.
Furthermore 42,293 people are being quarantined across the country after having close contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients or returning home from pandemic-hit regions.
Vietnam has registered a total of 256 COVID-19 local transmission cases since the latest outbreak hit the country on April 27, with various clusters of infection in 24 cities and provinces, mostly in northern and central regions.
Earlier on May 8, an additional 30,678 people were vaccinated against COVID-19, elevating the total number to 832,635. They are mostly frontline medical workers, members of local steering committees for COVID-19 prevention and control, and members of police and military forces.
