HCM City intensifies preventive measures as more cases found in northern localities
VOV.VN - Further local infections of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed by the centres for disease control in Hanoi and throughout the northern provinces of Vinh Phuc, Thai Binh, and Hai Duong.
The latest cases include eight detected in Hanoi, four in Vinh Phuc, and one each in Thai Binh and Hai Duong. All new cases were linked to hospital outbreaks or were identified as F1 contacts confirmed to have contracted the virus from COVID-19 patients.
In light of this situation, hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City remain on high alert and are in the process of taking strict preventive measures against COVID-19 following the detection of the latest cases at many medical facilities in Hanoi.
Measures include all healthcare staff and others entering local medical facilities having their temperatures checked, whilst individuals must fill out online health declaration forms, along with thoroughly washing their hands before entering.
Furthermore, hospitals will use only one entry and exit door and will regularly disinfect the premises. They will also ensure that all staff members are regularly tested for COVID-19, even though the majority of health workers and other staff have already been vaccinated as part of the recent national vaccination drive.
The southern city’s Department of Health have therefore instructed people to wear masks, undergo a temperature check, and fill out online health declaration forms when entering local health facilities.
The southern metropolis has set up many inspection teams as part of COVID-19 prevention and control efforts in its districts and also in Thu Duc city.
The municipal People’s Committee moved to approve the closure of educational establishments on May 6 ranging from kindergartens to high schools, as well as professional education schools, with this policy being implemented on May 10.
Moving forward, schools will teach online for the rest of the 2020 to 2021 academic year which is scheduled to end on May 31.
The majority of schools in the city have also scheduled tests for the second semester, with this set to happen earlier than previously scheduled. All tests must be completed by May 8.
Moreover, the municipal People's Committee has also ordered the closure of non-essential services such as gyms, fitness centres, billiard places, yoga establishments, wedding centres, buffet restaurants, and other events involving more than 30 people, with this set to start on May 7.
