1,020 Vietnamese nationals safely brought home from Myanmar’s conflict areas

VOV.VN - So far nine flights have been conducted to bring home 1,020 Vietnamese nationals stuck in war zones in northern Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

An additional six charter flights were operated on December 5-6 following the first on December 4, said the MoFA.

It added that competent Vietnamese agencies are collaborating with agencies of foreign countries to deploy more such flights in the coming time.

In addition, to implement the humanitarian policy and in the spirit of international solidarity, Vietnam is also supporting Egypt, Malaysia, and Singapore to remove their citizens from Myanmar.

Sources say there are many Vietnamese left stranded in conflict areas in northern Myanmar. Most of them have been scammed into online gambling establishments in the northern states, where they were harassed by their employers and left stranded due to the fierce fighting there.

The MoFA and the Vietnamese Embassy will continue to urgently verify all information regarding Vietnamese citizens in order to ensure the fastest support possible is given to them.

Authorities once again warn Vietnamese citizens to be cautious against offers to work abroad for "easy but high-paying" jobs.
