10 beachgoers rescued as rough seas hit Nha Trang during Lunar New Year
VOV.VN - Rescue teams in Nha Trang have saved 10 people who were swept offshore by large waves while swimming during the Lunar New Year holiday, as rough sea conditions continued along the central coast.
According to the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, the incidents occurred on February 20 (the fifth day of the Lunar New Year). Rescue forces were able to detect and bring the swimmers safely back to shore in time.
In a separate case, authorities recovered the body of a foreign male drifting in the waters off Nha Trang. Police are coordinating with relevant agencies to determine the victim’s identity and investigate the cause of death.
Rescue officials warn the sea has been rough throughout the Lunar New Year holiday, with strong waves and unstable weather conditions affecting the area.
Warning signs have been installed along the beach, and rescue teams have been deployed at full capacity to monitor the shoreline and advise residents and tourists not to swim when waves are high.
The Nha Trang Bay Management Board urged residents and tourists to avoid swimming when large waves, rough seas, or rip currents are present, and to strictly follow warning flags and instructions from on-site rescue personnel.
Despite repeated warnings, some visitors reportedly ignored safety advisories and entered the water, resulting in preventable emergencies.
