1 metre barb caught in Da River
A giant barb with a length of over 1 metre and weighing approximately 30kg was caught in the Da River, in the town of Muong Lay, Dien Bien province.
This is the biggest fresh-water fish that local people have ever caught.
The fish was sold at a market in Dien Bien Phu City for more than VND1 million (nearly US$50).
Many curious people flocked to see the fish.
Da is one of the most majestic rivers of Vietnam and is home to many giant creatures.
